Dunkirk is a coastal city in northern France, famous for the costly WWII evacuation of Allied soldiers from the city's beaches. As a result of its northern latitude, these beaches can be wide, flat expanses of sand or narrow strips forced up tightly to the seawall.
Dieppe is a fishing port on the Normandy coast of northern France, home of the reconstructed medieval Saint-Jacques Church and expansive rocky beaches.
